With limited means, my mother, a widow and mother of three daughters, taught us to make do with what we had: pieces of cloth for protection. It was rudimentary, but it was our reality.

Like many, I grew up with the idea that periods were a discreet, taboo subject. As a teenager, I swapped the pieces of cloth for industrial sanitary towels and tampons. A ‘solution’ that quickly turned into chronic discomfort: irritation, infections, constant worry. Every month, it was the same anxiety and the same struggle.

Then one day, a discovery changed everything: period panties. It was a revelation. No more fears, no more compromises. Just me, my body and my newfound freedom. It was a turning point: I wanted all women to be able to experience their periods without suffering, without fear, without shame.
